Inspect
your feet regularly, preferably every day.
Make sure you check for:
• Blisters /
Corns / Calluses
• Swelling
• Warmth/Redness
• Cuts.
If you find any of the above stop using the footwear!
Keep your feet clean.
Trim your toe nails, if you can’t do this
get a relative or carer to do it. File the nails
to get rid of any sharp edges.
If your toenails are especially difficult to cut,
arrange to see a podiatrist.
Always dry between your toes. Moisture can attract
germs such as fungus which breeds rapidly and can
be difficult to treat.
Apply moisturising lotion if you have dry skin.
Do not soak your feet for any length of time. Cracks
in dry skin can open allowing germs to enter. |
